How Much Does Trenchless Sewer Line Replacement Cost?

The cost of trenchless sewer line replacement can vary significantly depending on several factors. At Sewer Renewal Specialists in Portland, we tailor our pricing to the unique needs of each project. On average, trenchless sewer line replacement can range from $60 to $250 per linear foot.

Several key factors influence the cost:

  • Pipe Material: The type of pipe you choose for replacement, such as PVC, HDPE, or CIPP lining, will impact the cost. Each material has its own price point.
  • Pipe Diameter: The size of the sewer line to be replaced affects the overall cost. Larger-diameter pipes generally require more material and labor.
  • Access and Obstacles: The ease of accessing the sewer line and the presence of obstacles like tree roots or other utilities can affect costs.
  • Extent of Replacement: The length of sewer line that needs replacement is a crucial factor. Partial replacements are typically less expensive than replacing the entire line.
  • Local Regulations: Local permits and regulations can add to the overall cost.

While these factors influence pricing, we prioritize transparency at Sewer Renewal Specialists and provide detailed estimates after an on-site assessment. This ensures that you receive an accurate cost estimate tailored to your specific sewer line replacement needs in Portland.

Benefits of Trenchless Excavation

When the damage to your main sewer line is too extensive for pipe coating and other repair methods, the pipe will need to be replaced. In the past, this required excavating the entire length of the pipe to lay a new sewer line. Traditional excavation is a time consuming, expensive, and destructive process. Trenchless sewer replacement offers many time and money saving benefits over traditional sewer line replacement.

The advantages of trenchless sewer methods include:

  • Minimal disruption: Trenchless excavation involves minimal digging and disruption to your property. This means less damage to your landscaping, driveway, and other structures.
  • Cost-effective: Trenchless sewer replacement can be more cost-effective compared to traditional methods. With fewer labor hours and less restoration work needed, you can save on overall project costs.
  • Quick installation: Trenchless techniques allow for faster installation, minimizing the time your sewer system is out of service. This means less inconvenience for you and your family.
  • Durable and long-lasting: Trenchless sewer replacement utilizes high-quality materials and advanced technology, resulting in a durable and long-lasting sewer line. This means fewer repairs and maintenance in the future.
  • Eco-friendly: Trenchless excavation reduces the need for extensive digging, which helps preserve the natural landscape and reduces the carbon footprint associated with traditional excavation methods.

When your sewer line needs to be replaced, your local sewer specialists can provide an inspection of the sewer pipe to determine if trenchless excavation methods are possible. You will be advised of what was found during the inspection, the repair options will be explained, and your questions will be answered. Trenchless methods are possible in most situations. The Trenchless Process

The trenchless sewer replacement process is similar to the traditional method of laying pipes. The main difference is that only two holes are dug instead of digging a long trench across your entire property to the street. In Portland, OR trenchless excavation, two holes are dug at either end of the sewer line to access the pipe for repair or replacement. In addition to being faster, this preserves the natural beauty of your landscape.

After the holes are dug, a special drill with rotating heads is used to break up the existing pipe. As the rotating heads move through the existing sewer pipe, it is chiseled up and a new opening is created. The old pipe is cut into sections and pulled out through the new hole, as the new pipe is pulled in place behind it. Once the new pipe is in place, the holes are filled and the job is finished.
